First US-based Microsoft Innovation Center debuts at Venture Hive

Venture Hive is thrilled to announce that it has partnered with Microsoft to host the first US-based Microsoft Innovation Center at its facilities in Downtown Miami. The facility will be equipped with the latest technology and tools to help drive job creation, increase the number and availability of highly skilled technology specialists, facilitate collaboration between diverse groups throughout Florida and serve as a flagship technology center connecting our region to key communities in Latin America. The Miami MIC will target academia, startups, government and local and LATAM community. Local partners include Miami-Dade County and the County Commission, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Miami Dade College, Nova Southeastern University, and the University of Miami.
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, and Commissioner Marc Sarnoff were all on hand as Microsoft Chief Evangelist and VP for Developer Relations Sanket Akerkar announced the partnership in Miami as the kickoff to eMerge Americas Tech Week.

The Miami MIC is part of Microsoft’s CityNext initiative which is part of a new program to accelerate innovation in urban areas by harnessing the ideas, energy and expertise of the local community to create healthier, safer and more sustainable places to live.
